I didn’t set out to make this 5 Minute Spiced Pumpkin Butter, but I’m so glad I did. This butter is one of those happy accidents that sometimes happens when you’re working on something else, but it tastes so damn good you have to stop what you’re working on and immediately take photos and prepare a post. Yep, it’s that good.
Also, is it crazy that it’s not even October and I’ve already gone through 3 cans of pumpkin? I don’t know what it is, but as soon as September starts I can’t help myself. It doesn’t matter that it is still sweaty hot here or that Florida doesn’t have a true autumn with the beautiful changing leaves, I just love this time of year. Maybe it’s because I love pumpkin and this is really the only time that is acceptable to eat large amounts or maybe it’s because Halloween is my favorite holiday. No matter, I’m going to enjoy this time while I can.
This pumpkin butter is made with just 3 ingredients (4 if you’re a cinnamon fanatic), involves no cooking, and there’s no added sugar. Simple, healthy, and delicious!
So far, I’ve enjoyed this butter spread on toast, straight up by the spoonful, and my favorite way swirled into a bowl of nice cream with a pumpkin-y chocolate cup. Don’t worry that recipe will be coming soon 😉

- 1 cup medjool dates
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- dash of cinnamon optional
Soak dates in hot water for 15-20 minutes to soften.
Add dates and pumpkin puree to bowl of food processor and blend until dates have broken down and mixture is smooth. You will likely have to stop once or twice to scrape mixture down as it has a tendency to creep up the bowl.
Add pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon if using and blend to fully incorporate. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
Recipe time does not include soak time for dates.
